Root resorption of adjacent teeth due to maxillary impacted canines – comparative analysis of the findings on cone beam computed tomography and panoramic imaging

نویسندگان

چکیده

Background/Aim. A frequently reported phenomenon associated with impacted maxillary canines is root resorption (RR) of the adjacent teeth. The incidence RR also depends on radiographic imaging method used. aim study was to evaluate correlation between two methods: panoramic (orthopantomogram ? OPT) and cone beam computed tomography (CBCT), in diagnosing contact canine teeth existence their resorption. Methods. included 64 subjects aged 12 33 years, 80 not orthodontically treated previously. Positions ca-nines possible were firstly estimated OPT then CBCT. Results. prevalence permanent significantly different concerning estimation CBCT imaging. found 25% but i n 6 6.25% lateral incisor tooth most commonly affected by RR. It especially important emphasize that premolar detected at all using OPT. Conclusion. There a highly significant difference analysis relationship resorptions. more accurate precise examination compared for determining localization presence

Evaluation of Cone Beam Computed Tomography in Diagnosis and Treatment Plan of Impacted Maxillary Canines

Introduction: Maxillary canines have important roles in facial appearance, development of arch, and functional occlusion. Radiographs are important in evaluating the location and nature of these anomalies. The purpose of this study was to evaluate two types of 2D and 3D imaging technique in diagnosis and treatment of maxillary impacted canines. Methods: Thirty eight patients (50 impacted canine...

Comparative analysis of impacted upper canines: Panoramic radiograph Vs Cone Beam Computed Tomography

Background The use of CBCT exam in the study of IMC is not new. However, it's still not known in what specific aspects CBCT exam shows a better result than then conventional exams. The aim of this study was to compare and conclude in what way the opinion regarding upper canine impaction differed when observing a panoramic image compared to the observation of a set of CBCT reconstructions. Mat...

Cone-beam computed tomography findings of impacted upper canines

PURPOSE To describe the features of impacted upper canines and their relationship with adjacent structures through three-dimensional cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) images. MATERIALS AND METHODS Using the CBCT scans of 79 upper impacted canines, we evaluated the following parameters: gender, unilateral/bilateral occurrence, location, presence and degree of root resorption of adjacent tee...

Impacted maxillary canines and root resorptions of neighbouring teeth: a radiographic analysis using cone-beam computed tomography.

The study analyses the location of impacted maxillary canines and factors influencing root resorptions of adjacent teeth using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). In addition, the interrater reliability between observers of two different dental specialties for radiographic parameters will be evaluated. CBCT images of patients who were referred for radiographic localization of impacted maxilla...

Cone-Beam Computed Tomography Evaluation of the Positions of Unerupted Maxillary Canines with Incisor Root Resorption

Purpose: To establish a new coordinate system using the incisive canal and incisive foramen in cases confirmed to have root resorption in the maxillary incisor region by cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) to investigate the positions of the central and lateral incisor roots and erupting maxillary canine tooth crowns in the horizontal plane. Methods: Nine patients (two males; mean age: 10.5 ye...
